Effective 2026-09-01. This describes what the software actually does.
Your answers to the questionnaire: your state, the reason for the change, and whether you hold a passport, a driver's license, and a voter registration. Optionally, if you type them: your current and new names, date of birth, mailing address, phone, email, sex, height, weight, eye and hair color, and place of birth — the fields the government forms in your packet ask for. If you buy, Stripe gives us the email you used at checkout.
We never ask for a Social Security number, and there is no field for one.
Filling the forms in your packet, rendering your packet, sending the six-digit access codes that open it, and finding your packet links when you ask by email. Nothing else: no advertising, no analytics, no sale or rental of any information, ever.
Three service providers, each seeing the minimum: Stripe processes payment and holds your checkout email (your name and answers are never sent to Stripe); our email provider transmits the access codes and packet links to your address; and if you press "Verify Address", that address alone goes to the U.S. Census Bureau's public geocoder to standardize it. No one else receives anything.
Ninety days after purchase, your names, details, and email are erased by a scheduled job — the packet page counts down to it. Backup copies expire within 48 hours after that. What remains is the purchase record with no personal details: state, price, and dates, kept for tax and refund accounting.
Two, at most. After you verify an access code, a signed cookie keeps that one packet open in your browser for 30 days. If you arrive through a partner's referral link, a second cookie remembers that partner's public code for 30 days so we can pay them their commission; it contains the code and nothing else. No third-party cookies, no cross-site tracking, and referral counting happens on our own server — we run no advertising pixels or third-party analytics.
Data is stored on our server and replicated to encrypted-at-rest storage. Access codes are stored only as keyed hashes. If a breach affects your information we will notify you at your checkout email as state law requires.
support@renamekit.com — questions about this policy or your data.
You have answered some of them. Leaving now clears those answers — there is no account holding them, so nothing is saved until you reach your packet.
